ABOUT THE CRIME FICTION ACADEMY

The Crime Fiction Academy made its debut in mid-February 2012. Students are taught by successful practitioners of the genre, and classes take place in The Center’s eight-story building at 17 E. 47th Street in Manhattan. Every writer enrolled in CFA attends a 12-week writing workshop (divided up into two six-week sessions), plus master classes with experts in the field. All classes, workshops, and lectures take place in the evening. Students may enroll for one term, but commitment of at least a year is advised to take full advantage of the program. Anyone can enroll! Click here to find out more about the program.

OUR CFA SUCCESS STORIES

We would like to congratulate CFA students Rhonda Gold and Jackie Freimor, whose stories "One Shoe, Purple" (Gold) and "Some Country" (Freimor) have been selected for Akashic's Mondays Are Murder series.

Congratulations to Crime Fiction Academy alum Michael Weinreb (left), whose story “The Ocean” has been selected for inclusion in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine.

And hats off to Rich Zahradnik, whose novel Last Words will be published by Camel Press—along with three more in the series. Rich workshopped Last Words in the CFA.

WHAT CFA STUDENTS ARE SAYING

"Crime Fiction Academy absolutely exceeded all expectations. Dedicated and enthusiastic instruction from accomplished novelists and up-close and personal contact with the top writers and industry professionals in the game. It was total immersion into the world of crime fiction writing–hosted in an amazing landmark building by The Center For Fiction."

 — Jonas Paterno

"[CFA is] a wonderful workshop, the best I've ever participated in. [Jonathan Santlofer's] experience and perspective has been and will be invaluable ... It's as if I have a brand new tool to apply, one I should have used before but perhaps loved my book too much to do so."

 — Vito Racanelli, whose story "Eyes" appears in The Literarian.

"It was such a pleasure, treat, honor and wonderful experience to have met [Jonathan Santlofer], worked with him and been in his class. He is a dedicated teacher and a warm, generous person."

 — Michael Harvey
